Greek PM: Greeks Have Given Us a Four-Year Mandate

tsipras_voulh_563_355Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras made his first speech inside the Greek Parliament since his reelection on September 20 while addressing SYRIZA‘s parliamentary group on Saturday afternoon.
“We are here after a tough but victorious electoral encounter. We are not overly happy but we are justified in feeling that we were vindicated from the popular verdict, because the people vindicated the tough and honorable battle we gave in the context of the negotiations for their right and to ensure that the country has potential within stable conditions,” he said.
The prime minister also claimed that the Greek people have given his government a four-year mandate while also clearly expressing their desire to rid the country of the “old,” something that Tsipras emphasized in his pre-election campaign. The Greek premier added that Greeks want the government to implement the necessary reforms.
Tsipras did not leave the issue of the Greek debt untouched during his speech, claiming that negotiations over its reduction will begin after the review of the Greek bailout within the year.
