Hollande to Support Greek Government Conditionally As France Could Invest in Greece

Francois Hollande was often seen as a a source of solidarity for the Greek government during the later’s negotiations with international creditors over a new Greek bailout deal.
Kathimerini newspaper cites sources who claim that Paris is willing to show support to Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his coalition government again but under certain terms.
The reported demands include that the Greek government move ahead with the implementation of the Greek bailout and that it scales down the influence of the German and United States’ governments on Greece’s affairs.
France could be looking to pursue its interests in Greece more actively, according to the report. French companies are reportedly looking into water management companies, the country’s energy sector, roads, ports and trains in Greece, among other industries.
Hollande is expected to visit Athens on October 22nd, while a visit by Frenchman Pierre Moscovici, the European Commissioner for Financial Affairs is also anticipated by the end of the year.
