Four Greek Universities Ranked Among World's Best by National Taiwan University

Four Greek universities made it to the National Taiwan University’s annual global ranking of higher education institutions.
Among 4,000 universities that were examined, the University of Athens was ranked 217th. The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki claimed the 344th spot, while the University of Ioannina was placed 390th, followed by and the University of Crete which stands at the 495th position.
The University of Athens was placed 87th best European institution. At the same time the university excelled in specific categories such as the Pharmacology and Toxicology departments, in which it was ranked 76th globally. It also came in 171st in the Physics rankings.
“The ranking system evaluates scientific papers, and the indicators are designed to compare both the quality and quantity of scientific papers in each university. Through examining long-term performance and short-term research efforts, we look forward to providing a more objective ranking as a reference for diverse research performance in universities worldwide,” the National Taiwan University notes.
