Greek Foreign Minister Says No to Joint Patrols in Aegean

kotziasForeign Minister Nikos Kotzias said Greece is not willing to conduct joint patrols with the Turkish navy in the Aegean Sea in order to deal with the refugee influx.
“This would mean Turkish vessels entering our territorial waters, a move which could have long-term consequences,” the minister said on Alpha radio on Thursday.
This came as an answer to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker who urged Greece to collaborate with its neighbor in the Aegean and tackle the refugee issue.
Juncker argues that Turkey seems willing to participate in joint patrols with Greece and its collaboration would be of great importance since it has been the gateway to Europe for hundreds of thousands of refugees already.
