Greek Deputy Finance Minister Receives A Bullet in His Mail

alexiadisGreek Deputy Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis became the second Greek official to receive a bullet in the mail within four days.
The bullet was enclosed in the mail that was delivered to the Greek Finance Ministry on Monday and was addressed to Alexiadis. It was accompanied by a note which is signed by the “Kokkini Fraxia”, which translated to “Red Faction”. The note threatens Alexiadis and his family and refers to the deputy finance as an agent of the Nazi regime’s armed forces.
” Tryfon Alexiadi. Wehrmacht collector… Until the “0” hour you and your family members will understand what fear means,” the letter reads.
Alexiadis is responsible for Greece’s tax revenues, a position which includes crafting the country’s taxation system and the difficult task of curbing widespread tax evasion. The Greek government is trying to increase tax revenue and decrease tax evasion, which has plagued the country for years, as part of the reforms and austerity measures prescribed by the 86 billion euro bailout program that it agreed to in August.
Alexiadis said in a Facebook post following the mail’s discovery, that some type of fascist roots are evident in these mafia-like threats.
“This action only adds courage and strength in the necessary battle and the collision with the interests of tax evasion, illicit trade and corruption. As much as they are trying to hide, it is clear who is  pulling the strings,” he further noted.
This is the second time in the past four days weeks that a bullet was enclosed in the mail of Greek official. On Friday, Anna Ligomenou,Vice President of the Court of Audit and President of the Committee of the Wise, which consults the Greek government on reforms in the country’s social security system,  had received a bullet along with a letter accusing her of massacring the people’s social security rights and threatening her that she will soon know what fear means.
“I am warning my aspiring “punishers”. Never in my life have I feared the collision and the battle against anything rotten and corrupt that lead us here. They should be certain that their supposed revolutionary words only cause laughter. The fear they want to impose will soon transform into their nightmare because they will be lead to justice, with the only tool their handcuffs,” Alexiadis added.
