Former Minister Giannis Panousis Confesses He Received Threats

panousisIn an interview with the Greek newspaper Proto Thema, the former Citizens Protection Minister Giannis Panousis stated that he had received threats against his life by politicians who had connections with terrorists. “I have provided the necessary evidence regarding their identity to a notary, in case something happens to me,” he said.
During his time in office, Panousis was asked to deal with affairs of the police and the country’s secret services. Panousis’ revelation was shocking because it showed that the masterminds behind the plot against him were not only criminals and terrorists, but also government officials, who were serving in Greece’s last cabinet.
The former minister clearly indicated in his interview that the Greek Prime Minister is aware of the elusive financial transactions between politicians and police officers, commonly known as bribes.
The Greek government’s reaction to Panousis’ statements
The Greek government appeared irritated with Panousis’ allegations about politicians who are involved with terrorists. Government sources stressed that the former minister’s allegations are extremely serious and should not be mentioned in the media, but submitted to the Greek justice system.
