Olympiacos’s impressive Champions League run was cut short on Tuesday evening at the Allianz Arena at the feet of Bayern Munich who defeated the Greek team 4-0.
Douglas Costa, Robert Lewandowksi, Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman scored for Bayern Munich, in a victory that sealed their qualification for the competition’s last 16 round.
Prior to Tuesday’s loss, Olympiacos had won their last three Champions League games. As a result, despite their loss, Olympiacos remain in second place. Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb means that with one game left to play the Greek team needs a draw in their upcoming match with the Londoners. Defeat to Arsenal however, will mean that qualification to the next round for either team rests on the game’s exact scoreline.
Group F Standings
Bayern Munich: 12 points, +14 Goal Difference
Olympiacos: 9 points, – 4 Goal Difference
Arsenal: 6 points, – 1 Goal Difference
Dinamo Zagreb: 3 points, – 9 Goal Difference
