IMF to Decide on Participation in Greek Bailout After January

imf_go_homeThe International Monetary Fund is set to make a decision about its long-term role in the ongoing Greek bailout program further into 2016, the Athens Macedonian News Agency reports.
IMF spokesperson Andreas Adriano told ANA-MPA that the fund will begin deliberating over potentially taking part in this third Greek bailout in January, but the ultimate decision will not be made soon.
The fund’s public reservation with formerly attaching itself to this three year-86 billion euro memorandum, having already been in the first two bailouts, stems from the adamant demand that Greece receive a debt restructuring and, on the other hand proof, that the Greek government actually implement what it agreed to in this latest bailout.
European Stability Mechanism Chief Klaus Regling noted during an interview on November 30 that negotiations over potential debt relief would begin in early January, rejecting the possibility of an outright debt haircut.
