Unauthorized Turkish Ship Enters Greek Waters

n_24148_1A Turkish hydrographic ship entered Greek waters in the Aegean without receiving permission from Greek authorities.
The Turkish hydrographic vessel “Cesme”, accompanied by warship “Bodrum”, was sailing on Saturday afternoon between the islands of Lesvos and Chios without proper authorization. The incident sounded an alarm at Greece’s Defense Ministry.
This was the second provocation from Turkey in a few days, following the recent incident of six jet fighters from the neighboring country flying over Ikaria island.
Under international law, a research vessel doing seismographic work or any kind of work on the seabed needs to receive permission from the country the waters belong to.
The presence of “Bodrum” has caused an alarm in the Greek Navy putting warships on standby. Greek vessels and the gunboat ‘Undefeated’ stand nearby to monitor the movements of the two Turkish ships.
