German Press: Greece Is Facing 'Poor' Christmas Holidays

The German Press stresses that Greeks are facing “poor” Christmas holidays, noting that the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has voted for another round of austerity.
“Tagesspiegel” newspaper states that many Greeks see Tsipras as a traitor since he had promised to end the austerity policies of his predecessors but is now obliged to cooperate with Brussels more closely than ever.
At the same time, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, notes that Tsipras and the IMF are not in good terms “the Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras has only found one ally in his  demand for a debt haircut within the IMF and his recent statements suggest that it has caused ” a deep rift“.
While the German newspaperSuddeutsche Zeitung” notes that Greece deserves help in dealing with the refugee crisis, and appeals to Europe for a more lenient treatment towards Greece. The German newspaper also says that the EU behavior towards its member states is very strange “The EU is promising Turkey high financial aid and even the abolition of visas and Greece in contrast which is suffering from the crisis is faced with exclusion from the Schengen Treaty because it cannot cope with the situation.
