Greek Unemployment Rate at 24 pct in 3rd Quarter 2015

unemploymentThe number of employed amounted to 3,671,096 persons in the third quarter of 2015 while the number of unemployed amounted to 1,160,522, according to the national statistics service.
The Greek unemployment rate was 24.0 percent compared with 24.6 percent in the previous quarter, and 25.5 percent in the corresponding quarter of 2014.
The number of employed persons increased by 1.3 percent compared with the previous quarter and by 2.3 percent compared with the third quarter of 2014. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 1.7 percent compared with the previous quarter and by 5.6 compared with the third quarter of 2014.
The unemployment rate for females (28.1 percent) is considerably higher than the unemployment rate for males (20.7 percent).
By observing the unemployment rate for different age groups, that the highest unemployment rate is recorded among young people in the age group of 15-24 years (48.8 percent). For young females the unemployment rate is 54.5 percent.
