Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias received on Friday DUI President Ali Ahmeti, leader of FYROM’s largest ethnic Albanian party, which is a coalition partner in the Skopje government.
In statements afterwards, Ahmeti noted that the issue of FYROM‘s name is a priority for his party, since it is linked to the country’s prospects of joining the EU and NATO.
He described his meeting with Kotzias as “very useful” and said he had discerned goodwill on the part of the Greek Minister “in the direction of a solution to the name issue,” which he is willing to convey to his coalition partner and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in Skopje “so that all sides express a strong will to solve the problem.”
