Greece’s draft law on social security reforms may pass with a higher percentage than the government majority, State Minister Nikos Pappas said in an interview with Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper on Monday.
The government’s proposal puts an end to the “disaster” scenarios as cuts are avoided and additional resources are ensured, he added.
Pappas harshly criticized main opposition New Democracy (ND) accusing it of not having submitted new proposals. “It continues to support the proposals clearly stated in the institutions’ proposals that were rejected in the referendum,” he stated.
When asked to comment by reporters Eurogroup president Jeroen Dijsselbloem’s outlined that the first evaluation could take months, adding: “Some may wish for a new game of delays. But the agreement is being implemented and the fiscal figures are positive.”
