IMF Managing Director Lagarde to Meet with Greek PM Tsipras at Davos

Tsipras_Lagarde Managing Director Christine Lagarde plans to meet with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 21, according to a Bloomberg report.
Lagarde and Tsipras will meet on the sidelines of the forum and they are expected to discuss Greece’s bailout program. Athens has expressed the wish for the IMF to step out of the program, contrary to European leaders and finance ministers who believe that the presence of the Fund in Greece’s bailout is essential.
Tsipras expresses the belief that a reduction of the Greek state debt will make it sustainable and help the country come out of recession.
According to Bloomberg, the two are also likely to discuss the progress of the reforms that Greece is required to implement by its international creditors. IMF spokesman Andreas Adriano declined to comment, as did a Greek government spokesperson.
