At least 40 percent of Germans would prefer Greece to remain in the eurozone, the highest percentage for the first time in nearly a year, a recent poll by YouGov Deutschland revealed Wednesday.
According to the poll, 34 percent of Germans still support Greece’s withdrawal from the unified European currency area. In December, the number of respondents who spoke in favor of Greece’s exit from the euro stood at 39 percent.
Only 22 percent of respondents currently consider the option of a Grexit possible within the next six months, the poll revealed.
In March, 59 percent of respondents supported Grexit, while only 23 percent at that time considered the country should remain in the European monetary union.
