Greek Farmers Decide to Continue Road Blocks as Tsipras Calls Them for Dialogue

agrotes_blokoThe meeting of the coordinating body of Greek farmers union at Tempi is completed with the farmers deciding on daily two-hour blocks of national thoroughfares.
Farmers will block all national highways with their tractors at 12 pm-2 pm and 7 pm-9 pm every day starting Sunday.
At the same time, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has backed down and called on farmers to have a dialogue with him on Tuesday. Farmers unions have not decided yet who will represent them in the meeting.
From the beginning of the mobilization protesting the pension fund and tax reforms that affect them, farmers had asked to have a discussion with the prime minister and not the pertinent Minister of Rural Development and Food, Vangelis Apostolou.
On Tuesday the unions will meet again in Larissa to decide on the delegation that will go to Athens to meet with the Prime Minister at Maximos Mansion.
