Greek Man Killed After Brawl Over Taxi Line

greek-policeA 27-year-old man killed a 43-year-old early Sunday morning in central Athens after a brawl over who was first in a taxi line, Greek police say.
According to police, after a night out, the victim and his girlfriend went to the taxi line where there was only one taxi waiting. At the same time, the perpetrator with his sister arrived at the taxi line.
The two men started arguing over who gets the taxi. Witnesses say that both men were drunk. The 27-year-old started stabbing the victim on the neck with a small sharp object. Some witnesses said it was a screwdriver, others that it was a car key.
The perpetrator ran away, while the taxi driver and the victim’s girlfriend carried the bleeding man to the hospital. The man died inside the taxi before they could make it to the hospital.
After a search, police apprehended a 27-year-old man of Albanian origin. The taxi driver did not recognize the suspect, while the victim’s girlfriend recognized him with reservations. The man is still being held by police for further interrogation.
