German Fin Min Brings Back Grexit Talk

Wolfgang-Schaeuble2German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble brought back the Grexit issue saying that Greece would have benefited from that in the long run.
Speaking at an event in Hamburg, Schaeuble said that if Greece had exited the Eurozone last summer it would have suffered for a while but it would avoid the “endless painful process” and the “tough measures” that Greek people are now experiencing.
The German minister further said that, “It is difficult for Greece to solve its economic problems without the tool of currency devaluation.” Schaeuble declined to comment further.
Schauble also said that in 2011 he had advised Evangelos Venizelos — who was finance minister at the time — to examine the option of Greece leaving the common currency bloc for a few years in exchange of generous financial aid.
