Jeroen Dijsselbloem Wants Greater Clarity From Greek Government On Reform Proposals

DijsselbloemIn a memo addressed to the Dutch Parliament, Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem noted that there is need for greater clarity on the part of the Greek government with regard to its proposals for pension reform and additional budget measures.
According to Dijsselbloem’s memo, this is important since pension reform and new budget measures constitute part of the review of the new bailout program.
He said that the progress of the review process will be discussed in the Eurogroup meeting of February 11th.
Dijsselbloem also noted that some funds may be released for Greece upon the successful conclusion of the first review.
Back in Greece, in the meantime, New Democracy’s new leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis has asked prime minister Alexis Tsipras to withdraw the pension reform plan as it lacks support among Greek people.
According to Mitsotakis this is the only way to resolve the current impasse in which the nation’s economy is trapped by the mass protests of farmers and other segments of the labor force.
