First Woman Lieutenant-General in Greek Police

Zacharoula TsirigotiZacharoula Tsirigoti is the first woman Lieutenant General in Hellenic Police, thanks to her work on the refugee crisis.
The High Council of Hellenic Police promoted Tsirigoti to the rank of lieutenant-general on Tuesday. Tsirigoti was Head of Immigration and Border Protection Division, responsible for the coordination of refugee and migrant flows.
The new lieutenant-general of Greece’s police was head of operations when Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann visited the Lesbos refugee reception center at Lesbos.
Tsirigotis had updated the two state leaders on the procedures and flow of refugees. After the visit, the Greek prime minister was impressed by Tsirigotis’ work and thanked her personally for her continuous effort.
Κonstantinos TsouvalasGreek Police have a new chief
Κonstantinos Tsouvalas was named Head of Hellenic Police on Tuesday. He replaces Dimitris Tsaknakis, whose term had expired.
The decision was taken during Tuesday’s meeting of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA).
Officials also decided to appoint Yiannis Karatzias as the new head of the Hellenic Coast Guard, replacing Vassilis Papageorgiou.
Tsouvalas was Deputy Commander of Hellenic Police. He was born in 1962, and he is married with one son.
