The 1st Kalamata Street Fashion Show & 27210 Design Pop Ups has been organized under the initiative of the “Maria Callas” Music School of Kalamata Alumni Association with the support of the creative team of “Ladi Viosas” and the café Kounies, together with the auspices of the Municipality of Kalamata. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday April 23 at the Historic Center of Kalamata. The goal is to support the Messinia Day Center for Children and Adolescents with Autism and the Kalamata Animal Welfare Organization.
The event aims to present exclusively handmade products (clothing, footwear, accessories, decorations, etc.), targeting the local Greek identity, re-designing local products and helping young Greek designers showcase their creations.
The volunteers behind the event have come in contact with Greek designers from Messinia, as well as guest designers from other parts of Greece and abroad. All designers are known for choosing natural materials and gentle processing methods, while preserving traditional handicraft methods. The creator believes that Greek design and creativity is not lacking in any aspect compared to what the trends are abroad. Greece has originality, quality and craftsmanship in fashion and product design.
Meanwhile, the organizers have also established a “pop up shop” event, where Greek designers and skilled developers will present their creations to the audience which seeks to find the differences in design through thoughtful collections, paving the way for the recognition of local brand names, through the presentation of products in various shops.
