Deputy Minister of Sports Stavros Kontonis appears determined to cancel the Greek Cup as well as the Championship, after Wednesday night’s serious episodes in Toumba Stadium, Thessaloniki, which lead to interrupting the match between PAOK and Olympiakos in the 89th minute. After the chaos that reigned in PAOK’s stadium, the police proceeded with 15 arrests, whereas PAOK might be facing serious penalties.
The latest developments in Thessaloniki appear to be at the point where the Ministry of Sports is drawing the line.
Deputy Minister of Sports Stavros Kontonis, appears to have intentions to cancel the championship and cup, as it was known by the letter that the Minster sent out to the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) and the General Secretariat of Athletics (DEAB).
The Deputy Minister requested an answer by 4 pm whereas the programmed match between AEK and Atromitos at 7:30 pm in OAKA was cancelled.
