Five German police officers with two German ships, acting under FRONTEX, are trying to track down traffickers and save the live of refugees in the area of Samos island.
The patrol ships of the German Coast Guard that normally supervise the German navy borders in the North, are now operating around Samos. The ships Börde and Uckermark belong to the German Federal Police and are providing services to FRONTEX at least until June for the purpose of catching illegal traffickers.
The five German Police Officers, along with a Greek colleague patrol the waters at night with the lights turned off, so that they are not visible, increasing their chances of detaining traffickers.
