FYROM President Says Greece Not Helpful With Migrants

skopiaFormer Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’s President Gjorge Ivanov said that Greece is not being cooperative on the refugee crisis after about 1,500 migrants entered his country illegally on Monday.
The migrants were detained by FYROM authorities and were sent back to Greece on Tuesday, with some migrants claiming that force was used. FYROM has denied the claims. Greece has not officially announced the return of the migrants on its soil.
Ivanov convened a meeting of the National Security Council late Tuesday, and afterward told the press that Greece should stop allowing migrants to reach the neutral zone between the two nations at Idomeni. He also called for better cooperation between the two countries on border security.
It is estimated that about 14,000 people are stranded at a makeshift camp at the Idomeni crossing on the Greek side of the border. Refugees are there for weeks in the hope that the border will open again and they will be able to reach prosperous central Europe. Greek authorities are trying to persuade refugees to leave the area, unsuccessfully so far.
