A series of navy notifications (NAVTEX) with which Turkey will show its firm stand regarding the Aegean has been published in the past 72 hours by the navy station of Ismir.
Even though there are fleets of NATO in the area of Lesvos and the central Aegean, Ankara is proceeding with an attempt to show its domination in the navy territory between Chios and Skyros, whereas at the same time it proceeds with installing underwater cables in the shelf between Rhodes and Kastelorizo.
Diplomatic and military sources comment that is a common tactic of Turkey.
The boat Çeşme – which is the boat that is going to do the expedition – last sailed on December 2015, along with two Turkish navy ships, which in fact had troubled Athens.
This new “challenge” comes from Turkey while it is discussing with Europe how to manage the refugee and migrant flows by achieving a new deal.
