A protesting banner against the closed borders was hung on the White Tower of Thessaloniki by the initiative “Safe passage, Stop war.” The banner carried the message “Open borders, safe passage, stop wars.”
Police forces intervened on the scene and detained three people.
In the informative leaflet, the initiative highlights that “the war that has been ongoing for the past five years in Syria and the Middle East is the reason of the refugee crisis, the root of the sorrow.” In addition, the group invites the people to show their solidarity with actions by collecting food and distributing it in Diavata and Idomeni.
“Safe Passage, Stop War” is a social initiative that aims to a European coordination of solidarity actions towards the refugees and against the logic of closed borders and racism.
