Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras urged Deputy Minister for Sports Stavros Kontonis on Friday to continue efforts to reform Greeceās football leagues following increased crowd violence at games. Kontonis canceled this season’s Greek Cup indefinitely.
Tsipras met with Kontonis earlier to discuss developments on issue after the latter’s meetings with FIFA and UEFA. After the meeting, the prime minister tweeted: āI asked him not back down one inch. Either everyone will accept to clean up, or they will face the consequences.ā
