An informative leaflet in order to persuade refugees and migrants to leave Piraeus port and Idomeni and transfer to accommodation spaces is going to be distributed as of Monday.
The Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy in collaboration with the coastguard, have prepared an informative leaflet which will be distributed to refugees and migrants starting Monday, in order to facilitate and speed up the evacuation process of Piraeus port and Idomeni.
The four-language leaflet (Arabic, Farsi, Greek and English) urges refugees and migrants to trust the Greek authorities so that they can help them and therefore enable themselves to help their families.
The leaflet urges refugees and migrants not to trust smugglers and to refrain from violence in the wake of several quarrels between rival nationalities at the port several weeks ago. “[…] Make sure that no violent incidents take place among you. There is nothing to be divided. You all share common problems. Hate and violence do not help in any way,” the leaflet reads.
“Do not lose your courage, we stand by you, we love you…!” the leaflet adds.
The leaflet also mentions that “The port of Piraeus cannot host you anymore and you have nothing to win by remaining here. Additionally, from now on the port of Piraeus will have to service significant volumes of traffic of vehicles and passengers. It is not possible for you to stay at the port of Piraeus anymore. In a few days the port of Piraeus will be emptied (evacuated).”
Thus said, the flyer emphasizes that “at the reception centers across Greece and only there can you register yourself. ATTENTION: Nor at the port of Piraeus, neither at Idomeni can you register yourself.[…] You are losing time.”
In addition, the leaflet clarifies several issues regarding the Reception Centers and explains the services that are offered there.
