“Refugees Mythybusters GR,” in an attempt to offer a more accurate and realistic image to the readers regarding the refugee and migrant issue in Greece, has created an interactive map that contains all hoaxes that have been reported and circulated through media and social media during the refugee crisis.
The “Hoaxmap” pins all the areas that host refugees and migrants, for whom various media stations, sites and newspapers publish and share inaccurate news. In some cases, the news are not only inaccurate, but also made-up, resulting in the creation of a xenophobic attitude as well as giving the opportunity to far-right groups to spark racist actions.
