PNO to Go on 48-hour Strike With a Possibility of Rising Actions

PNO
The Executive Body of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) met on Monday in order to decide whether it will proceed with strikes as a means of protest for the security fund reform plan which is expected to be submitted in Parliament this week.
PNO has decided to go on strike for 48 hours and has also warned that there is a possibility it may escalate actions when the security fund plan is submitted for voting by the plenary session of the Parliament.
The 14 labor unions had warned in February that they will intensify their union intervention with new and more dynamic actions, before or after the controversial plan, if necessary, until the plan is completely withdrawn.
Speaking to ANA MPA, the PNO general secretariat, Giannis Chalas, requested the withdrawal of the security reform plan. He also added that seamen always pay high levies but receive less money.
