On Monday afternoon, Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan arrived on Lesvos island to visit the refugees and migrants in the camps.
The Queen visited the Kara Tepe refugee camp and tweeted during her visit:
“We need a collective and value-based response to the refugee crisis, based on burden sharing not burden shifting – at Kara Tepe Camp. […] Responsibility for refugees cannot be defined by geography. It is greater than any one country or any one region’s capacity to cope.[…] We must bring humanity and compassion back into the narrative because the refugee crisis is about people, not borders and barriers.[…]The global community must find legal alternatives and pathways to safety, and work on long-term sustainable solutions to this crisis.[…]

In addition, the Queen of Jordan posted a photo on her official Instagram account, in which she is depicted talking with refugee women in the camp. The caption of the photo said “Tragic account from Syrian refugee women and families at Kara Tepe Refugee Camp on the island of Lesvos in Greece. World must remember that nobody chooses to be a refugee, it’s what you become when you run out of choices.”
