Police Dismantle International Human Trafficking Network in Greece

An international human trafficking ring forging travel documents and trafficking migrants from Greece to other European countries was dismantled in a joint operation between the Greek Police and other European authorities.
The Greek Police announced on Friday that they have arrested sixteen foreign nationals, while they located a fully equipped lab for forging travel documents towards Athens.
The official announcement from the police said that were two main groups who coordinated most of the trafficking. The first group consisted of Bangladeshi nationals, who operated mostly in Athens and forged the documents. In addition, its leader had proceeded with establishing a group of businesses (hotel, restaurants, travel office, internet services, N.G.Os and others) and by exploiting their legal activity, concealed the illegal activity of the trafficking group.
The second group consisted of Sudanese nationals, who operated like the first group and had a mobile accessories store as a baseline in Athens. Its leader — a Sudanese national — was responsible for trafficking migrants in various European Union countries in exchange for money. In addition, the second group collaborated with the first group, as well as several Pakistani nationals, who had been arrested several months for organizing a lab for forging travel documents in a store in Athens.
