Olympiacos won the Greek Basketball League title after beating Panathinaikos 82-81 at a match that was decided in the last 2 seconds of the second overtime period on Monday at Olympic Athletic Center of Athens, Panathinaikos’ home.
This is the second consecutive title Olympiacos is winning, both times beating arch rival “Greens”.
The game kept fans and spectators at the edge of their seats after it went twice in overtime. The game finished at 63-63, with both teams playing defensively. The first overtime period finished 71-71, after a Vangelis Mantzaris three-pointer 1.1 seconds before the end.
The second overtime period went as expected, with the two teams going head to head. Panathinaikos was ahead 81-79, when Olympiacos went to his last attack with Vassilis Spanoulis having the ball. The match MVP scored an impressive three-pointer that won the game.

The two “eternal enemies,” as Greeks call the two teams, faced each other for the 16th time in the finals for the Greek Basketball League.
In the 16 times the two teams have faced off in the finals series, Panathinaikos has taken the trophy 10 times, while Olympiacos won six.
