Greece Expects Tourists from Turkey Above 1 Million in 2016

tourism in GreeceThe Greek National Tourism Organization‘s bureau in Turkey has been in over-drive the past months. Greece has announced that for 2016 projections show the country will host even more Turkish tourists than the 1.15 million it saw in 2015, which was an 18 percent increase from 2014.
Along with the GNTO, other regional authorities wanting to increase their presence in the Turkish market place have become involved with various events being held to encourage Turkish tourism in Greece.
Joint events between the GNTO in Istanbul have allowed the tourism sector to learn more about what drives Turks to visit Greece and what common knowledge about destinations attract the tourists to the Greek islands. One such event revealed that although Turks know about Crete, there is a disconnect with the amount of tourism that the island sees from Turkish tourists. The new joint efforts hope to help create more tourism opportunities for Turkish tourism in Greece.
