Tsipras Meets with Party Leaders on Electoral Reforms

TsiprasGreece’s Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, will be meeting with party leaders to discuss electoral reforms this Sunday.
The proposed changes to the electoral law that Tsipras wants to make would give back a voice to the people and would play-out much like a simple proportional representation system.
Tsipras and his left-wing party, SYRIZA, are hoping this move will help win back party support and some of the popularity they have lost among Greek people. The various wave of austerity measures and heightened taxes have not played favorably in the public’s view of the ruling party.
Also, Tsipras wants to change the current law that stipulates that the Greek president is to be elected by the Parliament, not the people. The Prime Minister wants the people of Greece to have the power to elect their president as they elect their prime minister and parliamentary representatives.
