Rise in Child Pornography Complaints in Greece

diadiktuo-upologistisAn increase in the number of child pornography complaints in Greece has been recorded by the Greek Awareness Center Saferinternet hotline.
The number of complaints in the period between January and October 2015 totaled 96,334, a figure higher than the 83,644 cases for unique URLs with child pornography reported during the whole of 2014.
The 38.6% of the pages with child pornography content forwarded to the police, went down within 24 hours, while 90.6% of it went down within three working days and 95.7% within five working days. The complaints helped significantly in eliminating illegal content on the Internet, but also helped in the protection of potential child victims.
The analysis of the complaints shows that 59.8% of the victims were prepubescent, children 9-13 years old. The vast majority (79.1%) of the victims portrayed in the illegal material were female, while 77.2% of complaints related to material on non-commercial pages.
