EU Leaders Felt the Brexit Blues… Until Tsipras Spoke!

The Financial Times documented the mood of UK Prime Minister David Cameron’s last EU supper. The report, titled “Brexit Blues at David Cameron’s Last Supper,” speaks of a good-tempered mood coupled with a sober atmosphere.
There were pleasantries but a feeling that there was a wake in light that the EU was bracing for its first divorce after 43 years. The menu included quail salad, whereas the main course had poached veal.
There were feelings of sadness, until Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras lifted the mood. As Financial Times reports:
“The mood was finally lifted with the words of Greece’s Alexis Tsipras, the last prime minister to rattle a summit of EU leaders with threats of a referendum. Such votes were not difficult, he said. There were only two outcomes possible and you needed to be prepared for both — which is why he was “surprised” by the situation in the UK. The room erupted in laughter.”
