Greek PM Tsipras Leaves for China to Attract Investments

EF9BB68656DA0C1F2E2CD408E8A55491Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is departing today (Friday) for a five-day official visit to Beijing and Shanghai in an effort to attract Chinese investments.
During his visit to China, Tsipras will meet with Chinese premier Li Keqiang and other government officials and several business executives.

The sizeable Greek delegation includes almost half the cabinet and numerous prominent businessmen. The Greek government hopes that the delegation will return with important business deals that would bolster the country’s ailing economy. The bilateral talks are expected to focus primarily on cooperation in the transport, tourism, education and culture sectors.

The prime minister’s schedule is as follows:
Departure from Athens to Beijing on July 1 and arrival on July 2.
July 2 (Saturday)
-9 a.m. Arrival in Beijing
-6:30 p.m. Interview of Tsipras on public TV channel CCTV
-8 p.m. Tsipras will hold a dinner for the members of the business and media delegation to China
July 3 (Sunday)
-10:30 a.m. Meeting with the President of Wanda Group
-11:45 a.m. Visit to HUAWEI’s technological park and meeting with the company’s CEO
-2:30 p.m. Visit to the Great Wall of China
July 4 (Monday)
-10:15 a.m. Meeting with Chinese journalists
-3:40 p.m. Meeting with the Chairman of the NPC Zhang Dejiang
-4:30 p.m. Official welcoming ceremony
-4:45 p.m. Private meeting between Tsipras and Chinese premier Li Keqiang
-5:15 p.m. Wider bilateral meeting of the two delegations
-5:45 p.m. Signing of bilateral agreements
-6 p.m. Business Forum
July 5 (Tuesday)
-10:30 a.m. Visit to Beijing’s Forbidden City
-3:45 p.m. Wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the People’s Heroes, in Tiananmen Square
-4 p.m. Meeting with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping
-6 p.m. Departure from Beijing to Shanghai
July 6 (Wednesday)
-08:45 a.m. Meeting with the President of the Chinese online retail giant Alibaba
-9:30 a.m. Meeting with the President of COSCO
-10:30 a.m. Meeting at ZTE’s center of research and development and meeting with the company’s president
-11:45 a.m. Meeting with the mayor of Shanghai, Yang Xiong
-1:45 p.m. Visit to the Museum of Shanghai
-3 p.m. Meeting with the President of the Chinese investment company Fosun and other Chinese businessmen
-5 p.m. Departure from Shanghai to Athens
