A friendly water polo match between young Greek and Croatian players turned violent on Sunday. The finals took place in Belgrade between the two countries’ national junior teams. In the middle of the final eight minutes, a Croat hit Greek player, Nikos Gardikos causing mayhem to break loose. The blow struck by the Croatian was the last in a series of underwater kicks and hits initiated by the Croatians on Greek team players.
