Violence in Exarchia, Kiosk Swallowed in Flames

EXARCHIA
Exarchia, a central suburb of Athens known as being a cesspool of anarchy, was once again gripped by violence shortly after midnight on Saturday that continued until the early hours of Sunday. A group of youth headed from Exarchia Square to Tositsa Street, leaving damage in their wake.
Police arrived in the area and fired warning flares. During their hasty departure from the region, a kiosk was swallowed by flames. Shortly after 1:30 on Sunday, the group started hurling Molotov cocktails and rocks at the Riot Squad that gathered in the region. A few minutes later they set fire to trash cans at the corner of Patission and Averof streets.
Two fire engines arrived in the area and four fire men were able to put out the fire. There were no injuries and no arrests.
