17-Year-Old Victim from Munich Shooting Remembered in his Greek Village

munich-after-759The Greek village of Aratos in the northeastern region of the country is in mourning this week for 17-year-old Hussein Daitzik, a victim of the fatal shooting spree that took place at a mall in Germany last week.
Hussein and his family were migrants living in Germany.
The village of Aratos was their ancestral home, as the family belongs to Greece’s Muslim minority, and they would visit the village every summer for their annual vacation.
Hussein died from gunshot wounds while trying to protect his sister from the shooter.
He was a triplet, survived by his sister who he protected and was unharmed, and their brother.
Hussein was one of nine victims fatally shot by the Iranian-German gunman, who later fatally shot himself.
The village mayor of Aratos says that Hussein had many friends in the village and that he “was a very good boy and quiet,” according to the Associated Press on Sunday.
