Greek Street Artist Adorns Cyprus' Parliament

995685_02_INO_ignorance_is_bliss_Nicosia_Cyprus_Parliament_2016INO is a Greek street artist who has created the most impressive and artful murals in Athens. Recently, he was invited to Cyprus to make a mural for the country’s parliament in Nicosia.
His works can be found in several parts of the world in cities such as Miami and Doha, since his unique, mostly black-and-white style is sought after in recent years.
The latest mural in Athens is on the EOPYY building near Omonoia Square. It is one of the most photographed in Greek Instagram and one of the most beautiful works that have appeared on the streets of this city.
“It was done after an initiative of the Liver Patients Association “Prometheus” and depicts a man who is dazzled by financial success, but he is actually ill inside,” INO told Lifo magazine, in a rare interview. INO has never revealed his identity and very seldom speaks to the press.
Regarding his mural on Cyprus’ parliament depicting emblematic figures of Greek democracy Solon and Pericles with blue strips on their eyes, INO said their eyes are covered so the two men cannot see how their ideas have been misinterpreted by some governments to serve their own interests.
INO studied visual arts at the Fine Arts School of Athens and now works as a freelancer. He started working on murals in 2000, when graffiti art was not as widespread, nor socially acceptable. Most of his work carries social messages, mostly about man becoming slave of his own devices, ambitions and creations, such as money and technology.
