Turkey Calls Back from Greece Officials Monitoring Refugee Flow

prosfyges-hot-spot-Lesbos-777x437Ankara has called back Turkish officials who were on Greek islands to monitor the readmission of illegal migrants to Turkey as per the agreement with the European Union.
According to information from Turkey, the officials were recalled because their passports had expired and they are expected to return to Greece.
However, the Greek side interprets this act as a temporary “freeze” on the implementation of the Agreement. The Turkish officials were stationed on islands close to the neighboring country where migrant registration centers operate.
Greek police has submitted to Turkish authorities several requests for readmission of migrants to Turkey, based on the agreement. However, Turkish authorities have not answered to the requests.
At the same time, Greek migration authorities said that the readmission of migrants to Turkey is stalling because there is a delay in processing asylum applications.
