2-time Olympic Medalist Anna Korakaki in Athens: 'I will Never Forget the Difficulties' (video)

korakakiOn Thursday gold and bronze Olympic medalist Anna Korakaki returned to Athens.
The 20-year-old received a royal welcome at the airport by the Minister of Interior Panagiotis Kouroumplis, military guards and media as she made her way off the plane onto the red carpet rolled out at the foot of the plane.
After receiving flowers and congratulations, Anna and her father, who is also her coach, made their way to the press where she smiled and enthusiastically and held up her gold Olympic medal that was hanging around her neck for photos.
Anna told reporters that she tried her best and that winning the medals was “a dream come true.”
“I have not realized (what has happened) yet…I made the biggest effort I could (and) fulfilled my dream twice” she said to reporters.
Anna became the first Greek woman to ever win two Olympic medals at the same game when she won Greece’s first medal at the Rio games on Sunday taking bronze in the women’s 10 meter pistol event and later on Tuesday claiming victory and gold in the women’s 25 meter pistol event.
When asked about this by reporters she said: “It makes proud that I am the first woman to bring home two medals…I will never forget the difficulties that I had,” she continued before adding “I want to be an incentive for young children.”
