Passenger Traffic In Greek Airports Increased in 2016

Athens international airport passengersPassenger traffic in Greek airports increased by 8.6% in the first seven months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, with the total number of passengers exceeding 28.6 million.
According to CAA statistics, the total number of passengers reached 28,620,068 people, an increase compared to the same period of 2015, when their number stood at 26,361,099 people.
In regards to flights at Greek airports, the number was increased by 4.7% and amounted to 257,278 flights. The 111,211 were domestic flights – an increase of 3.8%, while the international amounted to 146,067 – an increase of 5.3%. During the same period of 2015, there were 245,815 flights.
The statistics for July 2016 showed that 8,479,942 passengers moved to and from Greek airport, which corresponds to a 7.9% increase in domestic passengers and a 9.7% in increase in foreign passengers.
Finally, according to the CAA, the highest passenger traffic for July 2016 was recorded in the airports of Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Corfu.
