Growth in Asian Market for Cruise Tourism Encouraging

cruise shipAccording to data published by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the Asian market has grown considerably in cruise passengers and claims that as many as 40,000 additional passengers to the already 140,000 could be gained in the coming seasons in Greece.
The Greek cruise industry has recently seen drops in numbers of passengers, according to the data which shows that circumstances such as the geopolitical instability on the region as well as the financial and migrant crisis have all had negative impacts on the cruise tourism sector.
Two factors that will help drive Asian tourism are China’s Cosco Shipping Ports acquisition of Piraeus Port Authority and their commitment to help develop the cruise tourism sector. There are also plans to construct a new airport in Kastelli on Crete, which has a close proximity to other island popular destinations for Asian tourists to reach by cruise, such as Santorini.
