IKA Released Salary Data for Greece: 400 Euros/Month for PT Employment

SOCIALSECURITY
The largest Social Security Organization in Greece released data on average rates of pay. The statistics show that the average part-time worker in Greece is paid 400.84 euros per month (23.58 euros per day). An average full-time salary is at 1,219.69 euros per month or 52.25 euros per day.
The data comes after an analysis of monthly statements of employees insured with IKA in January. The average employee works 21.38 days per month – 21.54 for those who work in companies and 12.22 for those in construction.
Construction is the hardest-hit sector of the economic crisis with wages slashed in the industry to 41.19 euros per day or 500 euros per month. Businesses with less than 10 employees offer daily wages at 62.8 percent of those offered by businesses with more than 10 employees.
There is a gender gap in wages with women employed full-time receiving 84.5 percent the amount paid to male colleagues monthly. Those who are employed part-time are paid 95.1 percent of salaries received by their male counterparts.
