European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker was interviewed by German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine in a style of interview a little different from your run-of-the-mill political commentary. Sitting at a Greek fish tavern, enjoying the sun, sea and blue skies, with Greek music in the background, everything appears idyllic.
In the behind-the-scenes video of the interview, Juncker’s face emerges from behind a copy of Frankfurter Allgemeine. He then proceeds to recount his effort in keeping Greece in the Eurozone after the drawn out negotiations in summer 2015 when the country was in danger of a Grexit.
“I am happy to see the prices on the menu of this tavern are still in euros,” he says.
The Juncker clip is part of the newspaper’s promotional campaign running since 1995 that features different personalities from all walks of life reading the newspaper in different settings. The logo behind the campaign is – “Behind it (newspaper) is a smart mind.” Other participants have included German director Wim Wenders, former German chancellor Helmut Kohl, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and others.
