Bill for Elliniko Deal Expected to be Voted on in Parliament by Month's End

ELLINIKO, DIMAND, 21NOV2010After 22 months following an agreement between the consortium of Lamda Development and the Greek state was signed, the concession contract for the former Elliniko airport is set to go through ratification in Parliament, ekathimerini.com reports.
The bill, which notes the winner of the tender after a bid of 915 million euros as well as mentioning the transfer of payment on the day of official transfer, is off to Parliament largely because of pressure from Greece’s creditors who are calling for the release of a remaining sum of 2.8 billion euros from the first bailout review.
It is expected that the bill will be submitted to MPs by the middle of next week and is pushing for a vote date of September 26 which is just before the end-of-month deadline for the implementation of actions which must be undertaken before the disbursement of the previously mentioned 2.8 billion euros.
In all the project is expected to generate some 90,000 jobs, according to the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).
