World Chefs Congress & Expo Takes Place for the 1st Time in Greece [video]

world-chefs-congress-expoThe World Chefs Congress & Expo is coming to Thessaloniki, Greece, for the first time in its 86-year history. “It is one of the most important international events in the gastronomy sector bearing in mind that one of the events is the international finals for world master chef,” said Despina Amarantidou, president of the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB), in an interview with Praktorio 104.9 FM radio station.
More than 1,000 professionals from the world’s food industry have already started arriving for the conference to take place from September 24-27 at Thessaloniki’s HELEXPO. There will be 34 speakers taking the podium in an effort to showcase different sides of gastronomy.
One of the highlights includes the march of chefs that kicks off at the White Tower at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. There will be 674 chefs from 79 countries taking part in the event organized by the World Association of Chefs Societies every two years.
The next congress will be held in Malaysia in 2018, whereas the 2020 host will be revealed soon, during a special announcement to be made in Thessaloniki. Lyon, St. Petersburg and Sydney are vying for the chance to host the event.
